You know there’s something different about a “coffee shop” when I don’t even like coffee but I like spending time there anyway.
The interesting part of Stacks Espresso Bar is how they describe themselves on their website. “We’re a cafe and community space where great coffee and good company can always be found.” Their focus isn’t just on coffee and serving it but making it an entire experience. Stacks opened in 2014 and has since grown to a couple of locations across the Capital Region. The space they took over on Broadway is a perfect stop for many offices in the area.
The last time I went there, I saw a drink on their Facebook page and knew I had to try it. They called it an Iced Strawberry Matcha latte, with house-made strawberry syrup, alternative milk (I got almond), and matcha! It was a perfectly refreshing drink for the beautiful day I went. They also offer delicious treats to have with your drink of choice. They lucked out with Cider Belly Donuts so close because if you’re there at the right time, you can get a delicious donut for yourself. I ordered the “Kitchen Sink” cookie that had chocolate, potato chips – it was crazy but amazing. For you coffee drinkers, they offer espresso, drip coffee, and pour-over.
Currently, due to COVID-19, the Newton and Troy shops are closed and the Lark and Broadway locations are take-out only.
