Is this local? Not really. Is it Harry Potter-related and a quick day trip away? Yes. Do I need to go? Of course, what about you?
I, like many of my fellow Millennials, am a huge Harry Potter fan. I grew up reading the books, watching the movies, and I am open with my Ravenclaw tendencies. You can imagine my excitement (and yours too since you’re reading this) that the world’s largest Harry Potter store is coming to New York State!
It would’ve been just as easy for them to put it in England where the films were filmed and set but nope, it’s just a quick three hours away and I can’t wait. It will be opening at 935 Broadway in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District later this year, according to SILive.com.
The launch will apparently be this summer but there was no official date released. This store was already announced but unable to open due to COVID. Maybe with more time, they’ll have more surprises!
“This will be the largest dedicated Harry Potter store in the world and will become a must-visit fan destination where Harry Potter enthusiasts can engage with interactive experiences and numerous photo opportunities as they step into the magic,” said Sarah Roots, senior vice president of worldwide tours and retail for Warner Bros. “We are very excited to be opening in New York. It’s the ideal city in which to launch with so many dedicated Wizarding World fans, a cutting-edge retail environment and a community that embraces innovative experiences.”
The shop will be three stories high and more than 20,000 square feet. You can shop online ahead of time now but there will be NYC-store specific items once they open.
