How did I live in Schenectady all my life and only just recently have tried Memphis King? I’ve been missing out, have you?
Bob Canton spent 10 years in Memphis, TN and thankfully, brought that knowledge and love of food here to Schenectady. The Memphis King has been opened since 2013 so if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out on some of the recipes he perfected.
The location itself is easy to be overlooked but don’t bypass this purple building without trying some of what they have inside. The food is all cooked fresh, slow, and low. It may cause some of the food to sell out early so jump on it while your stomach is growling.
Make sure you check out the full menu on their website. They have some of the best food that you’d expect from a BBQ place. I grabbed a fried chicken sandwich with added pickles and pretty much all of the sides: Mac & Cheese, collard greens, cornbread, potato salad & baked beans.
Every bite was genuinely better than the last. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious, the mac & cheese was perfect, collard greens were delicious, cornbread was necessary, the potato salad was full of flavor, and DON’T get me started on these being the best baked beans I’ve ever had.
They also have a ton of different sauces and next time, I’m getting the sampler, I gotta try them all! You really can’t go wrong with the food, order everything!
