If you grew up in the Capital Region and spent your summers in Lake George Village like I have, then you know the famous wax museum right on the main strip. Have you ever been there?
You can’t miss it. Phantom is playing in the window, there’s usually a Frankenstein waving to you from the door- and they’re all just calling you in. If you’ve been skipping the Frankenstein Wax Museum thinking it’s just a tourist attraction, be a tourist in Lake George for a minute and take a walk through if you haven’t yet.
The House of Frankenstein Wax Museum has been around since the 1970s and the admission price (about $13), you can’t beat it. The wax museum isn’t set up like famous international ones, each scene is behind a wall and some have effects you can activate with a button. Walking through the museum, you see famous killers, famous ways people have died before and you walk through this neat optical illusion at the end. I probably should have noted that this is a scary wax museum but you would’ve figured that out once you saw Jigsaw (from the Saw franchise) in the lobby.
It’s a self-guided tour so you can take as long as you want with each exhibit. It’s definitely a little corny, as most wax museums are, but I enjoyed it. I assume that they don’t change their exhibits around often (if at all) but for Halloween time, it’s definitely something to add to your spooky routine!
