Something so simple done so right, have you been to The Mercantile Kitchen & Bar yet?
The Mercantile Kitchen & Bar, or more commonly referred to as The Merc, has been known by many names, most recently Cantina before they moved to their new space. Owned by former Cantina manager Chris Luriea, in partnership with his old boss, Cantina owner Jeff Ames, according to the Times Union.
Every restaurant has something that they do right but The Merc has many and one of those is fried chicken. Where else can you get all-day breakfast that includes staple fried chicken and waffles.
Last I was there, I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($13.95) and it was incredibly delicious. The chicken is perfectly fried, a delicious seasoning, nicely crispy – everything. Eventually I just started eating the chicken without the bread because honestly, it just got in my way.
They try to feature local ingredients whenever possible with semi-nearby VT maple syrup and Battenkill Dairy products.
Want breakfast in the afternoon and you happen to be in Saratoga? You’re in luck, check out The Merc!
