If you’re a fan of Manhattan Exchange but the drive to Schenectady is a little too far, no worries, they have a second location in Clifton Park.
Manhattan Exchange has been a staple of downtown Schenectady as far back as I can remember. Though they’ve been through an ownership change since then, Manhattan Exchange has really found its stride with the current owners. The burgers are a must – try them all. Honestly, the entire menu is delicious and it shows I’m not the only one who thinks so with the second location opening.
The Exchange Restaurant and Bar (857 Main St, Clifton Park) opened in 2023, and though there are a couple of crossovers on the menu and the style is overall the same, there are a few things specific to the new location. Originally the site of Smith’s Feed and Grain Store, the decor has reminders of the building’s history while still staying modern.
To start, we shared some chicken wings ($16). I like chicken wings but usually after one or two, I get bored. These were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside paired with delicious blue cheese. We also have been on the search for a delicious corn dip and The Exchange served it up. The only problem with their corn dip is that it’s supposed to be shared with a whole table and I could’ve eaten that completely by myself.
You always get nervous when a great restaurant opens a second location. Is it going to be the same? Is all of the focus going to the new place? After eating at both locations since The Exchange opened, I can safely say that they are balancing both spots beautifully.
