In my opinion, one of the best partnerships locally in the last year – Albany Distilling and Troy’s DeFazio’s Pizza.
Albany Distilling Company, when they opened in their new location, was just begging for some kind of food. They have the beverages, they have the space, but what they were missing was something to eat. Especially, after COVID happened and you needed to have food with each beverage, the chips just weren’t cutting it. In September 2021, it all changed when Troy’s DeFazio’s Pizza opened a second location, partnering with Albany Distilling Company.
I was going to see “The Irish and How They Got That Way” at Capital Repertory Theatre and needed something to eat. It was perfect to park early, grab some food and a drink around the corner, and then walk to the theatre for showtime.
If you want pizza, you first, enter DeFazio’s Pizza to the right of Albany Distilling Co. You get the menu from a QR code on your phone and order it there. Then, they’ll give you a card with a number. You head over to Albany Distilling Co. and find your table and grab your drink. They’ll bring the pizza to you. Each of their pizzas is 10″ round cut into eight slices with varying prices depending on which pizza you order. Gluten-free crust and vegan cheese are both available.
I have to recommend the Eggplant Florentine ($15.95) with Sliced Seasoned Eggplant, Sautéed Spinach, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, and Romano Cheese. It was the perfect serving for two people and the ingredients were all fresh and delicious. I had high expectations since DeFazio’s always makes it toward the top of the “Best Pizza” lists in the area. The only thing that disappointed me was that I did leave enough room for the Italian Hangover Cake because that sounds amazing!
