You’ve heard of craft beer and arts and crafts but have you ever had craft ice cream? The flavors that Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream is serving Troy aren’t found anywhere else!
Dutch Udder Craft Ice Cream was founded by Kehmally Karl and Jeff McCauley in 2013. Because of their 5th grader’s report on Vermont, we can thank Ben & Jerry’s for our very own craft ice cream here in the Capital Region. As their website says, “Karl and McCauley discovered that the co-founders of Ben & Jerry’s actually learned how to produce their ice cream through a correspondence course at Penn State, in which that same course still existed more than four decades later.”
After a few years of development, they were finally ready, and in 2016, “they served their first scoop of high-quality craft ice cream with a custom-built pop up ice cream cart.” On May 18th, 2017, they opened in Downtown Troy.
They offer all kinds of different flavors that you can’t buy in the store and my favorite thing they offer is the ice cream flight. Why get one kind of ice cream when you can try 6 of them? They are each half scoops so no worries, you don’t have to share. I got a delicious 6 mini scoop flight that included Grasshopper, Dunkaroos, Root Beer Float, and more! Each and every one was delicious!
According to their website, due to COVID, “we will be transitioning back to online ordering and curbside pick up. Stay tuned for updates via Facebook & Instagram. As always, thank you for your continued support.”
