Is there a food that you’ll travel a bit of distance for? I honestly didn’t think bacon was on my list and then, I ended up at Morrissey’s Lounge & Bistro in Saratoga Springs.
Morrissey’s Lounge & Bistro is an amalgamation of The Blue Hen and Morrissey’s Lounge on the street level of The Adelphi Hotel. They reopened this partnership in November of 2020 and somehow stepped up their game from what it was before. I had seen pictures on their Instagram of a bacon clothesline and I knew I had to try it for myself.
According to the official Saratoga website, “Chef David Burke, The Adelphi Hotel’s Culinary Director, has created an expanded all-day menu featuring breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner items, as well as sushi, cocktails, and other beverages. Enjoy everything from the delectable cheese fondues with truffles to the short rib croquettes, wood-fired flatbreads, specialty paninis, pasta dishes, and more.”I definitely took advantage of the half-priced sushi menu on Wednesdays.
The space is beautiful with the main dining room inside of the beautiful crystal ballroom. There isn’t a ton of room for seating but every plate that came out of the kitchen was just beautiful on top of, what I assume, delicious.
I decided to order the famous bacon clothesline. It comes with three thick slabs of bacon cooked with a sprig of rosemary. They also give you a pair of scissors to make it easier to share. Also, as I mentioned, I took advantage of the half-priced sushi Wednesdays. That sushi was so fresh and plated so beautifully. They had such interesting flavors and I wish my stomach could’ve held more than it did. Beautiful space, delicious food, looks like combining these two places was a perfect decision!
