SUMMARY:Golden Oldies Spectacular
DESCRIPTION:An incredible six act GOLDEN OLDIES SPECTACULAR: A NIGHT OF LEGENDS graces the Proctors stage on Saturday\, April 25\, 2026 at 7:00 pm.  These six acts were instrumental in shaping American pop and rock\, largely in the early 60s.  We are so appreciative that these legendary acts still perform at a very high level\, bringing the audience back in time to one of the most wonderful eras in our history. \nThe lineup includes: \nTHE BROOKLYN BRIDGE:  Formed by combining the Crest’s lead singer\, Johnny Maestro\, with the Del-Satins (Dion’s backup singers) and the horn players from the Rhythm Method\, the Bridge deliver stirring versions of Maesto’s Crest hits\, “”16 Candles\,” “The Angels Listened In” and “Step by Step\,” as well as their own late sixties hits\, “The Worst That Could Happen\,” “Welcome Me Love\,” “Blessed is the Rain\,” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” \nJAY SIEGEL’S TOKENS:  The Tokens had three smash hits\, “Tonight I Fell in Love\,” “Portrait of my Love” and their international #1 hit\, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”  Unique in the history of pop music\, “the Lion Sleeps Tonight” re-entered the charts 33 years after being #1 and became #1 again stoked by its use in “The Lion King” movie.  Jay Siegel also produced hits for many other groups and sang on many commercials. \nBRIAN HYLAND:  Brian became a teen idol at the age of 16 when “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” soared to #1 on the Billboard charts.  He toured the US and Europe with Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars.  Other major hits include “Sealed with a Kiss” and “Gypsy Woman (#3 hit).” \nLA LA BROOKS:  La La’s group\, The Crystals\,” were produced by Phil Spector and became one of the premier “girl groups” in pop history.  “He’s a Rebel” was a number one hit\, and “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “Then He Kissed Me” (used in the movie Goodfellas) were both smash hits.  La La also appeared on Broadway in the original cast of “Hair\,” often singing “Aquarius\,” and she also starred in the movie “Cotton Comes to Harlem.” \nTHE SKYLINERS: Pittsburgh-based\, they were formed by Jimmy Beaumont in the late 1950s.  “Since I Don’t Have You” is their signature hit.  Other hits were “This I Swear” and “Pennies from Heaven.” \nSix legendary acts performing countless hits that will transport the audience back to the 1960s.  Thanks to Proctors loyal oldies audience for keeping this great music alive.

His formidable online presence includes the world’s most viewed version of La Virgen de la Macarena (4.6 million Youtube views) and his popular Trumpet Warmup Show\, livestreamed weekly on Facebook with upwards of 25\,000 viewers in 30+ countries. Joe first joined the Brass at the age of thirty. There is not a concert performed by Canadian Brass anywhere in the world where Jeff Nelsen is not surrounded by professional Horn colleagues and former students. There is no better-informed Hornist than Jeff: he was recently President of the International Horn Society\, he has played in just about all of the major symphonies in North America\, performed in the music of computer games\, toured with John Legend\, and played in the Broadway pits in New York. \nKeith Dyrda\, trombone \nDubbed the “Wayne Gretzky of the Trombone” Keith Dyrda recently returned to the Brass after originally joining the group in 2010 as a replacement for co-founder Gene Watts while obtaining his Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University. He also holds a Master of Music from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music. Dyrda contributed to the Canadian Brass’ 2011 award-winning recording Brahms On Brass. In addition to a performance career with several leading orchestras\, he also spent 5 years as a member of the All-Star Brass\, a quintet that performed and recorded extensively at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. A true Canadian\, he was born and raised in Winnipeg\, MB and is a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. \nDr. Conrad Charles (Chuck) Daellenbach\, O.C.\, DMA (hon.)\, Doctor Litterarium (hon.)\, Doctor of Music (hon.)\, PhD (paid in full)\, tuba \nEvery social organization needs a bookkeeper\, manager\, spokesperson\, humorist\, and critic\, so while Canadian Brass has been looking for these people through the years\, founder Chuck Daellenbach has been filling in.   Growing up in a musical family tradition Chuck had to sing in choirs\, play cello (only one year unfortunately)\, and take up the tuba to help his dad fill all the positions in his band. Since these musical activities had taken up all his time there was little left for higher math and physics – off to music school! It was at the Eastman where he learned the art of taking every opportunity that knocks\, the tiger’s roar on tuba and\, after forgetting to leave upon graduation\, went on to earn a doctorate at age 25. It was then off to Toronto to head up the brass department (two of us) and meet Eugene Watts\, forming one of the most impressive entertainment teams since the Marx Brothers.

SUMMARY:Passport Series: Yeison Landero
DESCRIPTION:The Passport Series brings Music Haven to Proctors Collaborative\, “traveling the world one concert at a time.” \nThe Passport Series takes the same beloved world music that patrons of the Music Haven park series have come to cherish and brings it to Proctors in Schenectady and Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga so the party can continue all year. \nYeison Landero was born in San Jacinto (Bolívar); that is to say\, in the very heart of the mountains of María of our Colombian Caribbean. He carries in his soul a cumbiambero heart inherited from his grandfather Andrés Landero: a musician recognized as the king of cumbia nationally and internationally. \nNot only did he inherited his grandfather’s love for cumbia and the accordion\, but also the talent to interpret melodies. At the age of seven\, Yeison Landero became the most appreciated disciple of his grandfather Andrés learning all the emotions and humility behind the montemariano musician. He grew up in an environment surrounded by music\, dances\, and serenades. In his early years\, his home was visited by great musicians who entertained at parties with their incomparable talents. Artists of the stature of Alfredo Gutiérrez\, Lizandro Meza\, Calixto Ochoa\, Enríquez Díaz\, the composer and singer Adolfo Pacheco Anillo\, the legendary pipers of San Jacinto\, Abel Antonio Villa\, and an innumerable bunch of sabanero folklore figures with whom Yeison Landero nurtured his traditional style. \nHis first group was created by Andrés Landero himself. Presented next to the king of cumbia\, Yeison Landero and his sister were introduced as “Los nietos de Andrés Landero\,” performing cumbia at festivals\, patriotic celebrations\, concerts\, regional fairs\, and toured nationally. Yeison Landero later went on to study music at Bellas Artes\, and concluded his law degree at the University of Cartagena. But his love for his ancestral accordion and his passion for cumbia were so great that he decided to turn them into the motor of his life\, captivating the hearts of all cumbiamberos. He then decided to release his first album called Landero Vive\, as a posthumous tribute to his grandfather’s immortal legacy.

SUMMARY:Benny Benack III: The Magic of Manhattan
DESCRIPTION:By age 31\, Emmy-nominated trumpeter and singer Benny Benack III has proven to be that rarest of talents: not only a fiery trumpet player with a stirring command of the post-bop trumpet vernacular in the vein of Kenny Dorham and Freddie Hubbard\, but also asinger witha sly\, mature\, naturally expressive delivery in the post-Sinatra mold\, performing standardsand his own astute songs with a thrilling sense of showmanship. His dual talents were recognized by Downbeat magazine in 2022 where he appeared as not only the #2 Rising Star Male Vocalist but also a top Rising Star Trumpeter in their critics’ poll. Now in 2024\, Benny was voted the #1 Rising Star Male Jazz Vocalist and #8 Rising Star Trumpeter. His superbintonation and bracing virtuosity enable him to handle astounding feats of originally composed vocalese (complex solos with written lyrics). On top of it all\, he’s a highly capable pianist as well. \nThird in a generational line of Pittsburgh jazz notables\, Benny follows in the footsteps of his trumpeter/bandleader grandfather\, Benny Benack\, Sr. (1921-86)\, and his father\, Benny Benack\, Jr.\, a saxophonist/clarinetist who gave the young Benny his first professional experience. Benny\, Sr. hailed from a Pittsburgh lineage that also produced Roy Eldridge\, Earl Hines\, Art Blakey\, Billy Strayhorn\, and so many more. He recorded the Pittsburgh Pirates’1960 theme song “Beat ’Em Bucs” and toured with Tommy Dorsey and Raymond Scott\, among others. Benny III returns to Pittsburgh often to perform\, saluting his family forebears and the jazz heritage as a whole\, nonetheless staking his bold and highly individual artistic claim. He is an endorsing artist with Torpedo Bags cases\, CarolBrass flugelhorns\, as well as various menswear fashion lines\, including X-Suit\, Alain Dupetit\, Proper Cloth & Vittone.
