Fall Makers Market at Arlene’s
October 29 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
HOW IT STARTED
The Makers Markets at Arlene’s were conceived in the Fall of 2017 and is organized by Andrew Ochal, an employee of Arlene’s Artist Materials and director of the Atelier at Arlene’s program and R Gallery at Arlene’s. The markets were developed as a complement to these programs and help further support our local creative community.
Previously, we had a series of successful Pop-up stores featuring local businesses, like Bake for You and Weird Beard Candle Co. Expanding on that success we held our inaugural series of Holiday Makers Markets inside Arlene’s where we featured 18 talented makers from all over the Capital Region. The Markets then expanded to the Springtime, around Mothers Day, and now the Summer and continues to grow.
HOW’S IT GOING
Now, the Markets happen throughout the year, first in the Springtime, around Mothers Day, over the summer and during the Holidays. We are proud to feature regional makers, creatives and small businesses offering handmade jewelry, pottery, stationery, quilts, boozy cakes, clothing accessories , soaps and much, much more. The Makers Markets at Arlene’s vision and approach are still rooted in its origins: to create an inspiring communal platform that’s powered by a community of creatives, makers, and curated with beautiful, handmade goods.
It is our mission to fill our markets with Makers who produce well designed, high quality hand crafted products. We aim to provide a profitable opportunity for serious working creatives, designers and craftspeople with a clear voice who, in their own way, define what it means to be a contemporary maker. Our vendors represent a range of makers, from traditional craft to the more experimental.
As we emerge into a post COVID world, we look forward to continuing to grow and evolve the Markets, while forging ahead; staying true to our mission.
