Pinhead Susans, Schenectady Closed

After new owners purchased the business in 2019, the downtown Schenectady bar and restaurant is now closed.

Pinhead Susan’s, a bar whose original owners had for 20 years is now closed according to a recent Facebook status. The owner, Joey Faizy, ran the business for about a year before hiring someone to help operate the business. Faizy said that the operator was recently evicted for “nonpayment of rent” as he told the Times Union.

They were posting on their Facebook as recent as early April. Faizy posted on his own page, “Well it’s official!! Pinhead Susan’s is officially closed. The owners were not the right fit for it. Looking for the next person to lease the restaurant and start something new. Possibly a steak house with some renovations and a facelift. Who is looking to lease a fully furnished Restuarant? Call for details at 518-424-8679”

Faizy is open to selling the building as well as leasing out the restaurant space (both upstairs and downstairs). All of the furnishings and equipment is still intact and would be perfect for a restaurant to step in but it seems as if Faizy would love a steakhouse.

There is a love and nostalgia for Pinhead Susan’s, which was named after graffiti once found at the nearby Amtrak station that read “Susan is a pinhead.” Aside from Duke’s Chophouse inside of Rivers Casino there isn’t a dedicated steakhouse downtown and may be the perfect kind of food to fill the space. We’ll just have to wait and see if Susan’s history lives on.

Wow, I loved Pinhead Susans in Schenectady! It’s such a shame to hear that it’s closed now. I have so many great memories of enjoying delicious food and drinks there with friends. Hopefully, something just as great will come in its place.
