Mexican Radio, Schenectady Permanently Closed

You can’t drive down downtown Schenectady without seeing the giant green and yellow painted building and, after nine years, Mexican Radio has announced that they’re closed.

After a recent social media post saying that they were planning a break in early May, they followed up with the simple message “To our mucho appreciated fans we are sorry to announce that Mexican Radio Schenectady is permanently closed. Muchissimas Gracias for the 💜and support these past 9 years. It meant and will always mean the world to us!🙏💜🙏

The building was put up for sale in 2020 but continued to say open until this announcement. They had already previous closed their Manhattan and Hudson locations. Aside from the note on Facebook, no direct reason was given by Lori Selden and her husband Mark Young.

Hopefully, some new business will be able to take the very large elaborately decorated space and turn it into something else amazing for downtown Schenectady.

Crossgates Mall is really doing its best to become more than just a shopping center but more of a place for full entertainment. They’ll now have a new space to work with since one of their longer-standing restaurants has announced they closed today.
