Discers! Golfers? Okay, I’m new to the game so I don’t know what to call y’all but soon, you’ll have a new place locally to throw the discs.
The Schenectady Foundation has announced its Thriving Neighborhoods Challenge Round 3 grant winners, according to News10.
“The Thriving Neighborhoods Challenge empowers residents,” said Robert Carreau, executive
director of The Schenectady Foundation. “Each project reflects the unique vision of a group of
people with ideas for improving their neighborhoods and the desire to carry them out. Residents
have access to resources to make improvements that matter most to them.”
Among some other great programs for the Capital Region, one is $20,000 worth of funding for a disc golf course in Steinmetz Park. There is already a disc golf course in Central Park and it’s rated by the Professional Disc Golf Association. If you’ve never heard of disc golf, think of regular golf where you have to hit the ball in a hole but with a teller “hole” and frisbee-like things.
If you’re looking to start up the hobby of disc golf this year, there are many great local resources to turn to, mainly DisCap which breaks down some local places to play on their page or more specific details on the Central Park course.
