When Your Favorite Ice Cream is Opening 2023

Does it feel a little early? Maybe. But with all of these false springs we’re having, I’m ready to have my sunroof open, and sun on my face while enjoying some great local ice cream.

As I do each year, I make a list of all of the local ice cream places and keep an eye on their social media to find out when they announce their opening dates. As always, this list doesn’t include ice cream open year-round and is only a list of seasonal locations or windows. If you have an update, please feel free to reach out so I can edit this page. (Take a look at when they opened last year)

LAST UPDATED 3/7 9 P.M.

Open/Announced Opening Date

Hasn’t been announced yet

Closed?

  • Sophie’s II (formerly O’Kenny’s Express) – (Facebook hasn’t been updated, website down)
  • Amy’s Place, Schoharie (Facebook hasn’t been updated since 2021)
  • Duckpond Farms, Altamont (no website, hasn’t updated Facebook since 2018)
  • Chill Out Ice Cream, West Sand Lake (no website, Facebook shut down)

If you own one of these establishments (or live near one and have the scoop- ha) and I don’t have the date up, or it’s wrong, feel free to email me 518BitesNSights@gmail.com or message me on social media.

Anyone else over all of this snow and ice? I’m ready to start thinking spring and warmer weather and ice cream. Is it too early? Probably. I’m starting with my list from last year and let’s get some dates on the calendar!

One sign of winter coming is all of the ice cream places closing, right? Wrong. Just because there’s snow on the ground, there are still places you can get ice cream in the Capital Region.
