Fandom Fest 2022, Schenectady

Did you know that you don’t have to go to New York City to have your fandom dreams come true? Back in August, Proctors hosted its very own Fandom Fest for the first time and it was packed with fandoms of all kinds.

Note: I work at Proctors for my “Real-life job” as part of their Marketing department.

Fandom Fest 2022 was the first year of this soon-to-be annual event to bring together fandoms of all different kinds. There were celebrities, panels, cosplay contests, drag shows, table games, movies and more!

It was great to see so many people utilizing the Proctors’ space for something different than it’s usually known for. Aside from the panels, my favorite part was the Geek Garage that held pop culture cars from some of your favorites like the Delorean, the Munsters’ car, the Flintstones’ car and the 1960s batmobile! There was something to do at every turn. As much of a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fan that I am and how excited I was to see James Marsters (Spike) and Amber Benson (Tara), I loved the chance to meet some voice actors that I had no idea were a part of a bunch of my childhood. Rob Paulsen and Maurice LaMarche, best known as Pinky and the Brain, also have been a part of shows like Animaniacs, Rick & Morty and more!

The vendor hall had all different kinds of wares from collectible figures, to dice, pins, comic books – everything you can think of. Also, before you got to the vendor hall, you could stop and try your luck at the Arcade Arcade where I played some serious pinball.

I can’t wait to see when Proctors is going to announce the celebrities coming next year and what new things we can expect. Don’t miss it, August 2023!
