We’re so lucky to have a bunch of farmers’ markets to choose from in the area and each one feels different than the last. If you’re a farmers’ market fan and haven’t yet, add the Delmar Farmers’ Market to your list.
When you go to a farmers’ market, do you go to find groceries or do you go to fill your stomach for the day? I’d like to think I go for both but somehow I end up full before the first turn! Aside from the businesses being local, I love being able to find new businesses I’ve never had the chance to try in one place. Sure, you’ll see some crossover with the Schenectady Greenmarket or the Troy Waterfront Market but some businesses only vend at one.
The Delmar Farmers’ Market runs outside every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM starting in May through October. Starting November 5, 2022, the market will move back inside the middle school.
Their mission, according to their website is “To provide a marketplace that introduces local farmers and other food producers and food producers to the community and promote sustainable farming, healthy foods, environmental awareness and support of local and fair-trade businesses. We strive to bring people together to support and benefit from the efforts of these business owners.”
The Delmar Farmers’ Market has a great number of local vendors to frequent so make sure you give them each a chance (and show up with an empty stomach to taste them all)! (full vendor list here).
