There are certain places around University at Albany that are just mainstays. Granted, this place did move but it still held a nostalgic place in the hearts of alumni everywhere. Now, it’s closed.
Though I’m originally from the area, I left to go to college so I only got to experience D.P. Dough when visiting friends and a few times after I had moved back home. It seems like an era is ending with them announcing their closure on August 20.
D.P. Dough announced the news on their Instagram: “The Albany location of DP Dough will be permanently closing it’s doors on Saturday August 20th…We’ve been through a lot together over the last 15 years. We appreciate all of our staff and customers that made this experience special. There is always a chance it’ll be back in a different location under different ownership at some point.”
Reddit was filled with those upset by the announcement. According to their website, if you’re craving some of their late-night calzones, you’ll have to travel to UConn or Binghamton University for your fix as the two closest locations.
