New Arcade Restaurant Opening Soon in Schenectady

You know it’s happened to you. You’re trying to find a place to eat with a friend but then what? You want to do something fun! Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy the two-for-one experience of UnBEETABLE in Schenectady.

Fans of Take Two Cafe already know that there’s some kind of magic created in those walls. I leave there every time thinking “If I could cook vegan food like this for myself, I’d be vegan in a heartbeat.” Now, owner Chelsea Heilmann has moved on to a new venue, UnBEETABLE.

I announced back in January (Read here) that this was coming but it feels like we’re so close I can already hear the sounds of the arcade machines. You can follow the journey on their Facebook page which includes 8-bit bathroom designs, a repurposed TV with the logo, a crane game offering gift cards to Downtown Schenectady businesses, the return of Sam from Strawberry Snail Donuts, beautiful murals, games and that’s one what they’re not keeping a secret!

Heilman told the Albany Business Review that she came up with the idea while seeing similar concepts on a trip to Colorado. “I liked the idea and I wanted to figure out how to make it a little bit more interactive, where it’s not just strictly video games or old-school arcade games,” said Heilmann, who grew up visiting arcades and had amassed a collection of unique games. “You have the Dave & Buster’s, but those are catering to a different market and I wanted to do something where you don’t have to spend $100.”

To those asking, yes, UnBEETABLE will also be vegan but as a non-vegan, don’t let that scare you from the menu. The space holds 28 seats at the bar and 45 for dining. Pending liquor licenses, the aim is to have the space open by the end of August.
