After 15 years, this delicious Halfmoon staple is closing its doors.
Halfmoon Sandwich & Salad Shoppe announced the news on their Facebook page on August 11: “Everything that has a beginning, has an end. This is the end. Thank you for 15 amazing years. Thank you for all of your loyal support. Thank you for allowing us to be your trusted hometown deli. Thank you for it all. It is with conflicted hearts that we announce the permanent closure of Halfmoon Sandwich & Salad Shoppe. We will be shutting our doors forever on Saturday, August 20 at 3 pm as our lease expires. We are so grateful.”
The owners, Sean & Mel, announced that after the closure they will be taking a much-needed vacation. The stand-alone shop was always a popular spot in the area and always made delicious sandwiches. It’ll be interesting to see if another eatery will take the popular space. For those looking for a reason, Melissa (Mel) Craine spoke to The Daily Gazette, “We started out in the Small Red Shack, we built a new bigger space for the guests here with the help of our landlord,” Craine said. “We don’t own the building, we lease, and our 15-year term is up. And we can’t re-sign the lease.” They were hoping to purchase that property but couldn’t come to an agreement with the seller.
They are looking to open a new space in the fall but no word on where or what kind of food we should expect. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
