The Nest Owners Have Their Eyes on New Location

We love Cuckoos Nest, we love The Nest, we love Crave, and now, the owners are going to give us a new place to love in Downtown Schenectady.

UPDATE 10/29: The Times Union reported that the new location from The Nest owners will now be two doors down from the original location at a former Bank of America building at 500 State.

Mila Restaurant & Bar will be the new Mediterranean restaurant opening at 501 State in Downtown Schenectady in spring 2023, according to the Times Union. The space used to be a Citizens Bank but was torn down and is currently being redone by Redburn Development and turned into apartments.

“We weren’t necessarily looking to open another place, but much like with The Nest location, this opportunity with this landlord was just too good to pass up,” said Kaytrin Ziemann, owner along with her husband Devin Ziemann.

They’re projecting seating for up to 120 with a 16-20 seat bar and a patio for 60. The restaurant will be in the bottom-level commercial space. The menu will be “pan-European” featuring flavors from Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Spain, and Turkey. They will serve lunch and dinner Tuesday-Friday, dinner on Saturday and a weekend brunch – for now.

Downtown Schenectady is also welcoming Coxsackie-based restaurant Simone’s Kitchen on Jay St., specializing in Mediterranean food.
