One of your favorite ice cream places has a new owner.
With the nicer weather, here in the Capital Region we only have our minds on one thing – ice cream. Well, a very commonly named favorite in the Capital Region has a new owner but that doesn’t mean all is lost.
According to News10, Snowman has been sold to the local Daley Hospitality Group known for Daleys on Yates in Schenectady, Old Daley Catering, and Daley’s on Crooked Lake. As commented on Reddit, John Murphy, the longtime owner, hasn’t been the only owner in the nearly 70 year run and has survived each change.
“We’ve all grown up with the Snowman in our community and as part of all our childhoods,” Daley’s co-owner Marty Keary said. “We promise to keep it as we’ve always known it and bring some exciting new things to the property as well for the community we love.”
No word on any changes but according to a Facebook post, the new owners commented “We don’t mess with classics.” We’ll just have to see for ourselves when they open on March 12.
