Where one bakery door closes, another bakery door opens in Mechanicville.
Congratulations are due for The Sugar Fairy Bakes who, a few weeks ago, opened their new storefront in Mechanicville. Owner Stacie Blair previously was working out of her home but as of mid-December, has a storefront to work out of the former Golden Krust Bagels building at 205 Park Avenue (Route 32).
If you’re curious as to what to expect, Blair says on her Facebook page “I am a baker not a short order cook so in my shop you will find old fashioned, from scratch baked goods. Eventually, when finances allow, I will hire a short order cook who will make high quality breakfast sandwiches on my fromscratch kiser rolls, croissants, and other breads. Until then it’s just my sweet treats.”
As for where the love of baking came from, Blair says on her website, “Following the traditions of her grandmother, she always bakes her goods with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Nothing is processed or out of a box. She purchases her eggs, honey and produce from local farms whenever possible! She uses all butter, in her kitchen! And all of her pie crusts and pastry doughs are handmade.”
Taking a look at the bakery menu on her website, everything sounds so delicious: cinnamon buns, muffins, danishes, banana bread, coffee cakes (is your mouth watering yet?), cream puff, eclairs, and so much more!
