COVID may not be 100% over but restrictions are being lifted and some of our favorite 518 happenings are coming back!

The Playhouse Stage Co, has announced that they will be back for their first-come, first-seated performances at Washington Park in Albany. Also, they will not be restricting seating and will be at 100% capacity.

According to News10, Sound designer Tommy Rosati said, “Originally, we were just going to have 200, and we were like ‘okay, we’ll do that, it’s better than nothing,’ but the fact that we can open it up entirely is nothing short of incredible.”

Originally, the company was planning on reservations for the seats due to COVID regulations but now they will be open for free seating on the hill, with tickets to premium seating. The July musical is Ain’t Misbehavin‘.

According to Wikipedia, “The musical is a tribute to the music of Thomas “Fats” Waller. It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing. Five performers present an evening of rowdy, raunchy, and humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era and reflect Waller’s view of life as a journey meant for pleasure and play.” The August musical is Matilda, based on the popular 1988 novel by Roald Dahl.

The Playhouse is encouraging patrons to wear masks around the venue but not when seated and enjoying the performance. Premium tickets are on sale NOW.
