Bud’s on Jay, Schenectady

It may have had a few different names in the last decade but a new business is giving the space a shot in Downtown Schenectady and it’s called Bud’s on Jay.

You may remember it was The Happy Cappuccino, then Square One Vegan Cafe (which has since changed its name to Take Two and moved around the corner), and is now called Bud’s on Jay.

While Bud’s on Jay is not vegan like its predecessor, they do offer a few vegan options. They recently spoke to News10 saying “I’m excited to open Bud’s on Jay as an homage to my grandfather, who absolutely loved his coffee,” said Jack Kowalski, owner of Bud’s of Jay. “What we’ve created is a specialty coffee shop with an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. I’ve always loved the vibe and sense of community on Jay Street and look forward to fulfilling our customers’ food and beverage needs for years to come.”

They offer meals made-to-order but also have a space for grab and go. They have a few arcade machines in the space where the proceeds will be donated to a different charity each month, announced on their Facebook page.

They offer breakfast options, lunch options, and some familiar beverages as well. The full menu can be found below. We decided to grab some grab-and-go egg sandwiches after the Schenectady Greenmarket one morning with chai for me and coffee for my boyfriend and it was pretty good. I’m curious to try other offerings from their menu.
