Bob and Greg Rentz have decided that after almost a half century, they’re ready to sell their business.

The story got out when a real estate listing starting trending on Facebook without any announcement from the restaurant itself, first.

They announced on Faceook in response, “To our loyal friends and patrons:In light of recent social media postings, we wanted to first set the record straight that it was not our intention for a public announcement just yet. We deeply apologize for the surprise and/or confusion! This is more then likely the direct result of 2 old guys not knowing the power of social media 😂🤣While we continue to explore our options for the future, please know that the Purple Pub doors remain open and we look forward to seeing each and everyone of you. Greg and Butch”

The asking price, according to the website, is $550,000. Owner Bob Rentz told the Albany Business Review “We have just gotten too old to keep it going. It’s too much work for us and we don’t have anybody to take over and do it. It’s harder and harder to get good employees.”

For now, the restaurant is open and currently looking for help so we’ll just have to wait and see the future of The Purple Pub.
