With successful restaurants in the south of the state, an NYC mixologist is moving north to open a new “Gem” in Bolton Landing.
Operators of Hudson’s Wm. Farmer and Sons restaurant are looking to Bolton Landing for their new location. Owner Richard Boccato and his wife Patricia, as well as Farmer & Son’s operators Kirby Farmer and his wife, Kristian Keck will be opening the new restaurant called The Gem next to a liquor store they will also operate, according to the Times Union.
The name “The Gem” is alluding to the Lake George islands of Gem and Little Gem near Bolton Landing. The reason for Bolton Landing, Boccato says is because they “have family roots in Bolton and we have spent many summers enjoying the beauty of the surrounding area….the call of the Adirondacks was impossible to ignore.” They also plan to utilize local products in the restaurant and as well as the neighboring liquor store. They hope to open the liquor store May 1 with the restaurant later in the year.
