Lake George is one of the best places to visit in the summer, even though parking is never easy. This year, they’re debating raising parking costs for the season.
There apparently was an issue in the budget this year and to make up for it, Lake George is looking to raise parking fees. Currently, parking fees are $1 per hour but this increase would change it to $2 per hour instead, according to the Post Star. This hike would not include the village parking lots since they are already $2 per hour.
“We have discovered that we have included a revenue figure that would have been a bill that would have been sent to the town of Lake George as part of our contract for the Caldwell Sewer District, but we’re always one year behind. … So that will not be available to us this year,” Mayor Robert Blais said.
This change would also extend parking enforcement to April 1 through the end of October to account for the numerous fall events in the area. Especially due to COVID which has forced events like the Americade motorcycle rally and the Adirondack Nationals Car Show to postpone until the fall.
