First Local Ice Cream Place Announces Opening

The groundhog may have announced 6 more weeks of winter but just as that’s ending a local ice creamery has announced its opening for the season!

Dairy Haus Hard & Soft Homemade Ice Cream is the first ice cream announcement that I’ve seen in 2021 but they will be opening Saturday, March 6th at noon! To me, once the ice cream places start opening, it’s only a matter of time before the beautiful spring weather comes with it!

Dairy Haus Ice Cream in Saratoga opened in 1985 by Joseph Malatino and his family. It’s had quite the history, according to their website, “As Joe’s children grew up and found their own lives, Joe leased the business for over 10 years. As time passed and lessee’s decided to move on, Joe thought he would make Dairy Haus his own again for the 2014 season.” Then, at the 2014 season, Malatino decided to retire and pass the legacy onto friends the Cracco family. Joe has since passed away but his dream continues.

EDIT: Jericho Drive-In had their first day of the season Friday, February 12th and therefore is also open.
