You may have driven passed by it a few times but never stopped to go inside the Vischer Ferry General Store. Well, if that sounds like you, you’re missing out on an adorable store with delicious food!
According to their website, “Owner Louise McManus lives with her family in the original Shopkeeper’s House next door, so it seemed inevitable that she would someday become the new shopkeeper.”
The space itself is very close to the Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve right along the Erie Canal. So you can grab a snack or lunch and bring it along for a picnic. They even offer bike rentals so you can bike ride to your picnic. If you don’t want to travel, they have a beautiful space out back to enjoy your food, cafe beverages, and company.
Want to plan ahead? Take a look at the menu (I highly recommend the tuna salad).
It’s also a great little store to pick up some local products like Beekman 1802, or other products perfect for gifts or for yourself. If you need a store to shop local for the holiday season with a beautiful space, take a trip here. You can even rent it out for upcoming events!
