There’s a new place for fried fish here in the Capital Region and it’s right on Upper Union Street in Schenectady. Say hello to Off the Hook!
I’ve grown up near Upper Union Street my whole life. It seemed as if for the longest time there was nothing that could be successful in that space. It’s been Cajun food, Indian food, and more. Finally, this new fish fry restaurant, Off the Hook, seems like it’s the first in a long line that actually has a chance.
I was so excited to support the new venture near my house and I was not at all disappointed. To be honest, fish fry is usually one of those things that I force myself to eat on Fridays during Lent but this fry was different. The crisp, the flavor, everything was amazing. Before I knew it, I had finished the whole fry along with the side of mac salad.
