There’s not much to do thanks to COVID-19 but if you’re looking for a fun night out of your house with friends (or just by yourself), check out ax throwing at The Yard in Albany.

You may have heard about The Yard, Albany from their popular Boozy Moo’s. That’s the brilliant idea of bringing alcohol and ice cream together. They offer so much more than that!

I had the honor of being hosted by The Yard a few weeks ago and got to show off my ax-throwing skills. The basic rules are that you keep the axes in the designated area, throw at the same time, and wear closed-toed shoes. Aside from that, it’s incredibly safe and a lot of fun. They give you a few different axes to throw and tell you some great techniques to make your ax-throwing the best it can be.

Along with axe throwing, they have other great lawn games that you can reserve or even sit on their patio in the newly open greenhouse. The whole vibe is really cool with swings and cornhole, you really do feel like you’re in someone’s backyard.

To eat, we ordered a delicious grilled cheese sandwich with a bunch of different cheeses and then, we had to get the boozy moo!

I ordered the Dublin Double Chocolate (chocolate, flaked chocolate, Guinness Stout & Jameson Whiskey) in a float with a bacon straw. Yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. You can choose how many scoops you want or how you want it. If it’s your first time, I recommend just getting a dish of ice cream. As much as I liked the float, I feel like I really missed how delicious the flavor really was.

Overall, it’s a great place to chill out with friends, get a little frustration out with the axes, and have some Boozy Moo!
