I asked earlier this year the places you want to try in the Capital Region and toward the top of the list was The Bishop. So I went to check it out for myself!

As they say on their website, The Bishop is “the bourbon & beef spot that Albany has always longed for” and after my experience, I totally agree.

The Bishop is the product of three bartenders who got together to start a restaurant. Owners are Raymond Hatlee, Scott Pugsley and Evan Shults — all veterans of Graney’s Stout, the Victory Cafe, and Cafe Hollywood, according to the Times Union.

Everything on their menu looks like it’s going to be the best thing you’re going to eat. The way they describe their food is just as artistic as how I can imagine it all tastes.

My boyfriend and I went to dinner there since we were seeing a show at the Capital Rep (old location) so we chose from the “Show Menu” versus the full usual menu. My boyfriend ordered the Southern Fried Chicken sandwich ($12) and I got the smashburger ($15). The burger was perfection. Cooked like a dream, everything on it tasted so well together. The chicken was fried but not greasy, a great crisp. It’s been months since our visit and we still can’t stop talking about the food!
