Is there anything better than delicious food with a beautiful view? And I don’t mean the company I was with during my visit.
NOTE: 550 Waterfront is closed until 2021 due to COVID restrictions
Picture this. You’re watching the sunset over the water with a delicious drink in hand and some of the best crab dip you’ve ever had in front of you in the company of a good friend. Are you seeing it? That was my experience at 550 Waterfront in Saratoga Springs.
The restaurant itself has had quite a few names in years past but based on the food, service, and location, I think this one is here to stay for a while. The strangest part of the experience is that they don’t take reservations so you’re kind of going with your fingers crossed hoping that it’s not too busy and you can find a seat.
When I went, I drove in, gave my name to the person sitting there, and then sat along the water waiting for our table to be ready.
I ordered a drink that ended up being way too smokey for my liking and they were very accommodating in finding a drink that would better suit my tastes (and it just happened to come in a pineapple glass). Also, I wasn’t kidding that the dip was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Something about that mix of cheese, crab, magic, paired with the bread to dip was everything I wanted in that moment.
For dinner, I ordered a shrimp po boy. It’s pretty much fried shrimp on a roll with some remoulade. It was also delicious. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the remoulade wasn’t too overpowering and the serving size was perfect. I can’t wait to visit again and try something else on the menu (but still get that crab dip).
