Businesses were warning customers that this was going to expire on Saturday but thanks to a new ruling, we have a little more time for takeout cocktails.
Governor Cuomo has ruled that bars and restaurants are allowed to serve takeout cocktails for another 30 days, according to the Times Union.
Many local businesses were hoping that the Governor would sign an executive order and extend the ruling. This ruling is suspending a decades-old rule that “restricts restaurants to serving cocktails and wine for on-premises consumption.”
This added income for local restaurants has helped tremendously during this time. Some businesses are hoping that this will continue indefinitely saying that adding the cocktails to takeout completes the restaurant experience at home.
So far, the Governor has only decided to extend the ruling for the next 30 days. No word on if he’s considering extending it further.
