After a meeting on June 15th, the Village of Lake George has decided to cancel the yearly fireworks.

Following a list of other events canceled because of COVID-19, the annual Fourth of July fireworks over Lake George has also been canceled, according to News 10.

After the Albany fireworks have been postponed and they’ve been canceled in Saratoga and Glens Falls, Mayor Bob Blais brought up the idea of canceling their show as well. The fear was that with those other shows being canceled, it would lead people to flock to Lake George. It would end up breaking social distancing guidelines and may be too much for the village to handle.

No word yet on any fireworks shows that may still be happening for the Fourth of July.
