Popular Troy Steampunk Event This Friday
The Enchanted City is back this week, but this year has a new format and a new venue.
The Enchanted City will host its first “Fall in Steampunk: The Haunted Hedley” event at the River Street Market, in the Hedley Building of the Waterfront District, according to CBS 6.
Starting at 6:00 pm there will be a “Ghastly Ghoul Pageant & Costume Promenade” contest hosted by Upstate New York Cosplay Society where winners can be awarded The Enchanted City’s “Ghastly Ghoul” and “Victorian Vampire Slayer” title. With all of the food options in the building, there’s also going to be a “Frightening Foods” competition among the chefs where they will “work with mutated vegetables and other “scary” looking and “scary” sounding foods to make something tasty.”
Starting at 5:30 pm, there will be “Haunted Hedley” tours led by Denisse Grimm, a descendant of The Brothers Grimm lineage, including a visit to the sub-basement to see historic steam equipment and a laboratory from the 1950s.
“We’re not done with The Enchanted City you know and love, but it has to evolve to survive,” Susan Dunckel, owner of Sweet Sue’s Copper Pot, said, noting that fans should not count out a street festival element returning in the future.
