How great is it to live in a time when only a few months go by before a new brewery opens? The Capital Region is starting to become quite the beer hub and the trend continues in Colonie.
/edit Fidens has since opened a new location in the Warehouse District in downtown Albany
Fidens Brewing Co opened a few weeks ago off of Central Ave in Colonie, according to the Times Union. It started with three friends from Saranac who moved to the Capital Region and decided to open a brewery.
They’re going to have a small bar for the tasting room but plan on focusing on growler fills for the two or three beers they have on tap. The three friends used money from their respective savings and loans to open the new nanobrewery. The name has an interesting story, “from the Latin for courage or resoluteness, and he said it is reflective of the determination the partners felt to grow from homebrewers into a commercial venture.”
So far, Fidens Brewing Co will only be open on Saturdays with talk of Friday and Thursdays in the future. So far they don’t have food options but are looking into local food trucks for the future.
