Stout in Albany got in some trouble a few months ago and either had to make some substantial changes or they would be closed down for good. They kind of did both?
/edit this location is now a new business called The Copper Crow.
If you’re driving down Broadway in Downtown Albany, through the Warehouse District, you may be confused to see that Graney’s long-standing Stout is gone, but the space isn’t empty.
After Stout was raided, the minor stakeholder in the bar bought out Graney and decided to change the theme to Irish. They breakdown the backstory of the bar on their website:
Opening their doors in Albany’s Warehouse District in August of 2019, Molly O’Bryans is the brainchild of Albany businessman Scott Lawson. Lawson has partnered with head chef Mike Mainville and general manager Angela Shudt to implement his vision of developing a family-friendly restaurant that offers hefty portions of traditional Irish cuisine, modern-day pub staples along with an extensive list of craft beers. In addition to the amazing menu, Molly O’Bryan’s also offers a nightlife centered around an unrivaled entertainment schedule that includes the best live music that the Capital District has to offer. Molly’s also includes a rotation of trivia nights, open mic nights, and karaoke while still maintaining the small pub feels. Molly’s features happy hours & other specials for all of your favorite sporting events viewed on our state of the art televisions.
Taking a look at their menu, it looks like stereotypical bar food. They have mozzarella sticks, nachos, pizza, burgers, and quesadillas. In keeping with the Irish theme, they also serve bangers and mash, fish and chips, Shepard’s Pie, Reubens, Irish Stew, and they utilize a lot of Guinness.
