I follow a lot of event calendars to try to see what’s going on in the area all of the time. I kept seeing the name, and to be honest I had no idea what kind of music they played – until now.
I had the honor of joining some of the Board of Directors as well as the members of the Musicians of Ma’alwyck on a Taste of Troy Food Tour through Albany.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Musicians of Ma’alwyck, they are a chamber ensemble that currently has a residence at the Schuyler Mansion in Albany and also performs regularly at Schenectady Community College. The ensemble has been around since 1999 and they focus on music performed in America during the eighteenth and ninteenth centuries.
Coming up, they will be hosting a 20th Anniversary Celebratory Event with a trip to the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown. Included in the trip is round-trip transportation, a ticket to the opera The Ghosts of Versailles, a private tour anf picnic at Hyde Hall, as well as a concert by the Musicians of Ma’alwyck.
Their debut CD is currently available, “Music in the Schuyler Mansion” and you can see them on various dates at the Schuyler Mansion in Albany.
