Properly Dispose of Tattered American Flags

Do you have a tattered American flag but want to dispose of it properly? There are collection points all over the Capital Region over Memorial Day weekend.

Starting Tuesday, if you’re looking for a respectful way to dispose of your American flag, there are quite a few places to turn through May 22nd, according to CBS6.

The State Office of General Services will collect the flags so that they can be retired “properly with respect and honor.” The flags will then be brought to Syracuse outside of the NYS Fairgrounds to be disposed of in a bonfire during the May 26 Memorial Watchfire organized by a local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
