What was announced back in 2017 has finally released their opening date and it’s soon.

The Daily Gazette reported back in late 2017 that Saratoga Lake restauranteurs of Mangino’s Ristorante had their eye on a zombie property in Schenectady. Finally, according to CBS6, they’re opening.

Mangino’s Gourmet Market will be opening on Eastern Ave, Schenectady this spring. Son, Rick Mangino said to CBS6, “I want it to be family, come in, sit down, put your phones down, talk to each other.”

They’re planning on serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner utilizing local ingredients and taking Schenectady’s Italian heritage as well as Mangino’s own heritage into account. The Mangino family has roots in Schenectady and they’re happy that they can bring the family name back. Mangino’s Ristorante has been open in Saratoga Lake for 70 years and brought some of the family’s antiques as well as recipes to the new location.

The building they’ll be moving in to is 120 years old and has been vacant for years. The Mangino’s have been working on renovating the location for two years. In doing so, though, they’re keeping some exposed stone and brick walls as well as the tin ceiling.
