Mediterranean food is one of my favorites. Something about the vegetable choices and the spices always grab my attention. I’m so glad I didn’t have to go to the Mediterranean to find this food!
I’ve been following Mazadar on Instagram for a little while now. Each bit of food they post looks delicious and finally, I got myself in there to actually try what I’ve been drooling over.
I happened to be hungry so instead of ordering one thing, I just ordered whatever looked good. Nothing makes me happier than a table full of delicious food.
To start, I had some appetizers:
- Mantu: dumplings filled with seasoned beef and onions topped with yogurt, tomato sauce, and mint ($6.50)
- Banjan Borani: fried eggplant seasoned with spices and topped with house suace ($6.00)
- Hummus and pita ($5.50)
And for a main meal, I ordered a beef kofta wrap. They describe it as premium Angus ground beef marinated in fresh grated spices and seasonings. It’s similar to a gyro but the flavors here are not anything you’re getting at your annual Greek fest.
Everything was fantastic! I think I was most impressed by how delicious the spices were with each dish. If you’re intimidated by a bunch of words you don’t recognize, the staff there is amazing. Even if you just stick with a kabob or wrap (similar to a gyro) you won’t be disappointed. They serve each table with three sauces to choose from: a white sauce, cilantro sauce, and hot sauce. To be honest though, there was so much flavor in each dish, whatever came with each dish was perfect. The flavor balance, the choices, how fresh it was – everything was fantastic!
