Well, it’s official, it’s winter here in Upstate New York and you’re probably trying to figure out how to enjoy these chilly temperatures, right? Well, sit down at one of these places and have a drink!
No matter how much we try and ignore it, it’s cold in Upstate New York in the winter. That means we really only have two choices: cuddle up on the couch and don’t move until spring (which isn’t too realistic) or embrace it and find things to do. Luckily, Lake George isn’t only a great place to visit in the summertime, they’re also there for us in the winter, too.
LakeGeorge.com put together a few ice bars opening in the area and they’re usually not open very long so get to as many as you can before they melt away!
The most popular ice bar is probably the Glacier Ice Bar at The Sagamore. The bar itself is carved from 18,000 pounds of crystal-clear ice. You get to choose from a selection of ice-themed drinks (warm and chilly) and money from certain drinks will be donated to a great local cause. You have two weekends to enjoy this ice bar, January 25-26 and February 1-2.
You can also go to the Funky Ice Fest at Adirondack Brewery in Lake George Village. You can play beer pong on the frozen table and even “tickle the ivories” on the ice piano. Add it to your calendar because it’s this weekend, January 25-26 or February 1-2.
The Inn at Erlowest will also be hosting an ice bar at their Winterfest. There will be s’more stations, as well as local businesses being featured as well. You can see this Winterfest on January 25-26 or February 1-2.
Fort William Henry Hotel and Conference Center also has an ice bar. They will only feature their bar for one weekend, February 8-9.
You can go to the Forest Ice Bar at the Holiday Inn Resort with hot chocolate and a fire pit from January 25-26 and February 1-2.
Can’t make it up to Lake George the two popular ice bar weekends? No worries, King Neptune’s will be holding their Ice Lounge all winter long! They offer ice shuffleboard, ice corn hole, and you can take shots from the ice luge!
The Lake George Beach Club will also hold their ice bar all winter long with ice beer pong, and ice luge and it’ll all be open for the Lake George Winter Carnival!
