State to Offer Free Kayaking Lessons to Kids This Weekend
The weather may be getting colder soon but there’s still a chance to get out on the water, or at least learn a bit for next year.
News10 has reported that the state is offering free kayaking lessons “in an effort to get kids out on the thousands of miles of waterways in New York.”
On September 22nd, this Saturday, you’ll be able to participate in two free kayaking lessons. They will provide both the kayaks as well as life jackets on site. You begin and end at the Schoharie Crossing boat launch off State Route 5S. I’m not quite sure on the age range nor how many spots are left but you must pre-register. The two sessions will be at both 9:00AM and 12:00PM. To pre-register, call 518-829-516.
Also, with the addition of kayak rentals in Mohawk Harbor and the trend continuing to grow, this would be the perfect opportunity to get a head start and a bit of practice before the colder weather.
