New Gelato Place Debuting in Troy
Two SCCC Hospitality and Culinary Arts Program graduates are now debuting with their own restaurant after working in the Capital Region restaurant industry for a combined 20 years.
I love ice cream, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a certain mood that gelato and sorbetto put me in, especially on a hot summer day. Soon, you’ll be able to have artisan gelato and sorbetto right by RPI. Redz Gelato can be found at Caruso’s Deli at 126 College Ave, across from the RPI campus.
According to their post on the Troy subreddit, “Red is creating small batch, artisan Gelato and Sorbetto in varieties that invoke nostalgia of younger days, as well as a crafted take on classic desserts. Varieties such as Oreo (not cookies and creme – no, this is an Oreo cookie but better. Swear.), Lemon Curd, Tiramisu, and Mousse are part of our “most requested” lineup, but we are creating and improving our recipes every week!”
They also updated: “Gelato and Sorbetto will be available through September 1 (or sell out). We will be pausing production for the beginning of the semester to finish up some business-end stuff, and then reintroducing the product, properly branded, prolly around the new year.” So if you want to get some before they take a break – hurry up!
