Do you love ice cream? Did you know that there was something that you were unable to do with ice cream? Well, no worries if you didn’t because a new New York law says now you can.
You may have had wine ice cream or hard cider ice cream but have you ever had beer ice cream? If not, that’s because it wasn’t legal until earlier this week! The reason it didn’t exist before isn’t that anyone was particularly against it, it was just because no one thought to add beer before. We were allowed to add wine to slushies and ice cream, same with hard ciders, but I guess once someone asked about beer and realized it wasn’t on the bill, that’s when there was an issue.
The measure will require frozen products to contain no more than 5% alcohol and because of that, may not be sold to anyone under 21-years-old, according to CBS6. No idea who will make the first available in New York, but we have some great breweries, wineries, and cideries, not to mention great ice cream so, in my opinion, it’s only a matter of time we’ll have some around here.
