A great weekend to spend outdoors in Lake George to try a bunch of wines, beers, foods, and other local products. The only downside is that it’s only one weekend each year!
The Adirondack Wine & Food Festival is one of my favorite events every year. Located in Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George Village, it’s a great day to spend outside tasting wines, foods, and looking at the beautiful Lake George.
You can find the entire vendor list on their website but I love to go each year and try something new I’ve never tried before, or buy a new local product I’ve never owned. I didn’t get a chance to stop by every winery but I tried a few. My favorite stop is always the Adirondack Winery, major sponsors of the event, they always have the best tasting fruit wines in my opinion. What’s great is if you’re not a wine drinker, there’s still something for you to drink. There were quite a few distilleries to try, and Union Grove (new this year) actually got me to fall in love with their 30-times distilled vodka, and I’m not usually a vodka drinker. There are quite a few cideries to taste, a few breweries, as well as a meadery (Helderberg Meadworks) which is worth a taste if you’ve never had mead before.
Of course, it’s not just a wine fest but there’s food as well. We grabbed a delicious tzatziki from Argyle Cheese Farmers, I picked up a mango hot sauce from Horseshoe Brand Hot Sauce, and had a few tastings from Cabot Cheese but there were so many food products, I wish I could’ve taken them all home! There are also a group of food trucks and what, I think, was new this year was a featured $4 menu item from each. I loved this idea! A great way to taste some of these delicious local food trucks and not too expensive so you could get more than one!
Also, Finger Lakes Celebrity Chef William Cornelius had some culinary and demonstrations throughout the day. The smells from these delicious demonstrations filled the entire area, everything was so good! Each ticket came with admission, a tasting glass, a program, and the ability to utilize the drop-off area so you don’t have to carry your purchases throughout the day. A portion of each ticket sale will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks. If you haven’t gone to the Adirondack Wine & Food Festival yet, don’t miss it next year! I’ll let you know as soon as I know the date so you can mark it off on your calendar!
*NOTE: I was not paid for my review but I was given free tickets so that I could cover the event
