Warren County Offering Boating Safety Course

If you’re looking into renting boats on Lake George this summer, you have to take a boating safety course and Warren County is offering them up for free soon.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office and New York state are offering up boating safety courses for free in Queensbury later this month, according to the Post Star. The Sheriff’s Office and the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are offering a free state Safe Boating Course on June 17.

You must have a boater safety certificate to operate any personal watercraft in New York and everyone born after May 1996 must complete a course in boater education in order to operate a motorboat. This upcoming class is for adults and children 14 and older.

The course is on Sunday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 1400 Route 9 in Queensbury. The course is free but you must pay $10 if you’d like a permanent print-out for those 18 and older. You must preregister to participate, call 518-743-2500, select option “1” and ask for “Boater Safety.”
