It’s official, the Erie Canal opened today at what a surprise to see this celebrity waiting at Lock 2 this afternoon.
I didn’t realize boats wait for the opening of the Erie Canal but apparently, it was the case this morning. On one of the first boats in the canal was former talk show host and Fox News regular, Geraldo Rivera, according to the Times Union.
Rivera didn’t spend much time in the Capital Region, though. He mentioned on his Twitter that he and his brother were going down the Erie Canal, learning about the history at each stop and will continue to sail to Cleveland.
He detailed on his Twitter that they left from their home in Edgewater, NJ opposite New York City. They went up the Hudson River to the Troy Locks and Erie Canal where they will continue to head across New York State, cross Lake Erie to Cleveland.
